songs today: Pumped the kicks, foster the people Tomorrow is my last day in my Geocycle, i will presentate my final project to panel evaluator, user who have interest in my assignment, at a glance, i create a one gate of information in Geocycle to support operational and decision. It started with Waste Tracking Form, Waste Tracking Form is a document filled with information about waste from received until treatment. Geocycle Department use it to track every movement and age of waste. The problem is we create it manually so it is so impractical to use it as tools to track, and there is a chance for misstatement by manual input. Other problem is Geocycle Dept still didn’t have a system which can help to monitor and navigate storage from everywhere and every time This Final Project want to improve that problem, using SQL Server 2008 as a Database and Microsoft Visual Studio we want to create One Gate of Information and Control by build Database for Decision Support system. The Benefit are simplify data entry, paperless documentation, web based for monitoring and navigating, connect it with AFR database and reduce time for tracking So, i learn a lot about create an aplication using SQL SERVER and Microsoft Visual Studio. Hendri, one of a friend teach me. Thanks to him. And i amaze my girl always accompany me in every section of my life. So, wish me luck for tomorrow, i dont know i will be placed in where, i dont know how tomorrow will bring me to where, and i dont know i can pass it or not.. if i can pass it tomorrow, i will say one word: KAWIN  !!!!!!! getting nervous here

3 minggu ini gw disibukkan dengan rotational OJT gw di perusahaan gw. Jadi gw diputer-puter ke beberapa departemen yg berhubungan dengan kelangsungan hidup gw disini 

hari yang berat, gw kudu nyiapin jurnal, blajar buat ujian tulis dan tentunya presentasi. yg berat selain disitu, justru manajemen sidenya. gw realize disini gw ga d provide secara totalitas. ya bukannya gw minta2mulu, but imajine, gmana gw bs tenang kalo jadwal ujian gw jg ga jelas. belum lagi org-org di lapangan yg belum tentu nerima kita dengan baik.tp, ya ini tantangannya si, bwt bikin waktu2yg berat ini menjadi menyenangkan. sejauh ini kelompok gw berusaha untuk tetap original seperti kita biasanya. belum terbukti bagus, tapi, kita jd lebih enteng ngejalaninnya

ada sesuatu yg keren tentang PROJECT. di CE gw diajarin tentang project. project itu, karena sifatnya resources terbatas, waktu terbatas, unique, dan punya tujuan, maka dia harus di maintain. dengan project management approach tentunya. ini adalah gambaran kenapa lu kudu maintain project

next, andien, the beautiful singer from indonesia, masterpiece performance, sexy sounds and she can make me felt in love with her

the groove, the old bands, have memorable songs to us. bagaimana bisa, kau hadir di mimpiku, padahal tak sedetikpun, kurindu dirimu

and the last was malique and d essentials. this band can makes us feel passionate. at that time i want to kiss the girl

basically im not a jazz lover but, i can enjoy the show, i can feel the spirit.

this is the indonesian people must proud. we have a bunch of talented people. a lot of foreign came in this show. yeah, a lot of alay abg too, but its okay, maybe someday this alay (who wearing a hotpants, and i love it) can give us more than just boobs and vagina.

once again, altough we have a lot of problems, poverty, criminal, corruption, bad education, unhealthy living condition, smash and kangen band, but we still have a little lights to make indonesia better than before. java jazz is one of them. i proud being indonesia citizen. and i promise, one day, this country will proud of me too..

Lets discuss about this interesting sentence : is your company great? Before we go further, i want to tell you this blog post dont have a conclusion, it just something in my mind which still have no answer in it. So, is your company great? Whether your company great or just good.

Huge Profits

Maybe we will be satisfied and proud when our company can make huge profits. Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton in his book (The Balanced Score Card) has shown that indicators of income (referred as financial perspective) is the end of all perspective, the other perspectives are HR functions (learning & growth perspective), production operation functions (internal business / operation process perspective), and marketing functions (customer satisfaction / loyalty perspective).  All of it connect each other like a road map. Thats why the policy of HR, production and marketing can involve our profits. But when our company can reach a huge profits, do you think our company is great? Or just good?

In 2009-2010, Our company have average profits growth in 20%-30%, thats a great news. But the other company have same average too. so it means our company got profits just because the demand of cement industry is growing and developing the profits. or indeed all similar companies are also being produced profits, so Shall we pat the chest and proud? this is just an example that we are lucky to be in the ‘sun rise industry’ which has come to bring our company profit, but what about your competitors?  

Sun rise industry

is the outlook for your company in the future good enough? Does the industry of our company are growing and growing (sun rise industry), or even be in an industry that has been saturated and even decreases (sun sets industry)? By common sense actually we can assess prospects of an industry in the future. As examples we can ask the prospect of industries such as: “will people still use the cement to build houses and buildings 50 years or 100 years from now? “, and if the answer is ” Yes ” then the cement industry is certainly still have future prospects. Until now, there is no technology for change cement to another substitution products. And the limestones resources in Indonesia still high and cant exhausted within next 100 years. And as a developing country, the cement consumptions increase until 8% each year.

The demand is growth, not just growth, but it shift too. Java Island is still dominating the market, contributing about 55 % of total cement sales in Indonesia. However, Sulawesi became potential market too, from 2009 they have fairly impressive record of growth at 15, 7 % and it will increase again. And not just sulawesi, the other island such as Kalimantan and nusa tenggara is increasing right now.  This is a result of shifting the focus of infrastructure development from Java to outside of Java. And because the government give money authority from central management to the regions. Large concentration of funds in each region for infrastructure development increase cement’s demand.

My company realize the investment of U.S. $ 450 million to build a new plant with a capacity of 1.7 million tonnes per year and integrated facility in Tuban, East Java, in order to boost production capacity to 10 million tonnes. The third plant, owned by Holcim is expected to be completed in 2013, complementing the two existing facilities with a capacity of 8.3 million tonnes per year.

So, considering the fact that Cements demand in Indonesia is increase, the resource is good and until now there is no technology to substitute cement,  the answer is, Yes, people will still use cement to build houses and buildings in next 100 years. We realize we are in sunrise industry. And Cement have potential market in Indonesia right now.

But, still, by all the fact above, do you think your company is great?

Great Leader

In the book “Good to Great” (by Jim collins, CMIIW), one success factor of great companies derived from the leader or manager of the company. The company who have a very humble and low profile leader. In that book, jim collins interviewed many CEO ( Abbott, Fannie Mae, Kimberly-Clark Corp, Nucor Corp, Wells Fargo, the Kroger Co. etc). They  (the CEO) said “its all because I have great employee”. What a humble and low profile CEO.

Leadership who run by great CEO clearly gives confidence and develop the potential of the subordinates, jim collins picture it with vote the right people into the bus and down the wrong people out of the bus.

Still, often we found the leader who fear that the subordinates can exceed him, so the leader create not conducive working environment. Just like putting the dog fleas in to a matchbox. the fleas will jump and hit the box, after a while, the fleas just can jump as high as the box. The bad leader will put the subordinates in a box, so the subordinates cant jump higher.

Warren Buffet also emphasized the assessment of management, where honest and good leader is important. The leader who will make first priority for interest company and shareholders, in front of the personal interests.

So, in my mind, great profits or sun rise industry is just a litle factor to know about how great your company are. In my humble opinion, The great leaders in your company can show you the tracks to answer it. I believe, if your company dont have huge profits and not in sunrise industry, but you have many great leaders, your company is become great company someday.
